The Kuwaiti ecosystem has captured the eye of regional and global investors who will attend the conference and will underline their investment strategies. The conference will touch on the market’s latest trends, entrepreneurial hacks and best practices, team-building approaches, and scaling.

Here is a list of what to expect at the conference:

The 4 Forums

Innovation and Investment Forum:

According to ArabNet Business Intelligence, digital startups in MENA raised $650M in equity investments in 270 deals in 2017. ArabNet Kuwait will feature dedicated discussions about the state of the Kuwait innovation economy and startup investing from leading regional and global investors and stakeholders.

The Innovation and Investment forum will feature leading tech entrepreneurs to share their journey, the challenges they faced and lessons they learned, as well as the opportunities they still see in the market.

Ecommerce Forum:

Transactional businesses continues to dominate the digital landscape in the MENA region; in Kuwait KNET processed over $3.3B in online transactions during 2017 alone. The Middle East is one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets in the world, with sales volumes set to expand to $22.3 billion in 2020.

The E-commerce Forum will host the leading e-commerce and e-retail players to highlight the latest emerging trends and dive into the future of payments.

Money Forum:

Global fintech funding reached $31B in 2017 and according to ArabNet Business Intelligence, regional funding to fintech companies hit over $250M between 2012-2018 YTD. Technology is transforming the banking and financial services sector, which is why GCC cities are competing to become the next leading fintech hub.

The Money forum will explore trends in financial technology and the transformations created by big data, blockchain, AI and the practical opportunities available for banks and financial service providers.

Adtech Forum:

Brands and businesses are experimenting with new technologies such as artificial intelligence, data / analytics, and Internet of Things to enhance customer experience, improve efficiency and drive sales. Influencers continue to play a key role in the marketing value chain, with 94% of the brands, agencies, and retailers finding influencer marketing beneficial, according to Liniqia. Meanwhile, data driven marketing is growing rapidly, with new GDPR regulations and customer backlash making this more complex and sensitive for advertisers to navigate.

The AdTech Forum will shed light on the best practices for content creation and distribution, data-driven marketing, as well as technologies that are reshaping marketing and the consumer journey.

In addition to the forums, the event will showcase top entrepreneurs through the renowned Startup Battle and Ideathon competitions.

Three emerging talents and innovators out of 18 finalists will be selected from Kuwait’s Startup Battle to compete against the best in the region at the ArabNet’s Startup Championship at the Digital Summit next year. Winners of the Championship go home with $20K, a variety of in-kind prizes, as well as an acceleration scholarship in Silicon Valley.

The first edition of the Startup Championship in 2017 crowned Riyadh-based Sihatech winner in first place whereas UAE-based Sadeed seized first place in the second edition of the Championship.

With both winning startups from the GCC region, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the next winner rise from Kuwait especially that it has witnessed interesting developments over the past years.

As for the Ideathon, aspiring entrepreneurs are given the chance to showcase their innovative ideas. Each startup pitches their idea live on stage in front of judges and a crowd of investors, incubators, media and digital professionals.  The winner will earn a cash prize of $5,000 to help convert her/his idea into an up-and-coming startup.

The ArabNet TechFair is the accompanying exhibition featuring over 40+ leading companies from across the region and the world. The exhibitors will get the chance to network with the crowd of over 1000 delegates, venture into new markets, distinguish their organization from the existing competition, and display their newest products and services.
