Techne Drifts 2018 Concludes Entrepreneurial Roadshow

Last week Techne Drifts 2018 concluded its entrepreneurial roadshows taking 25 startups from across Egypt through a 5-day bootcamp on a Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan with an exclusive selection of entrepreneurial mentors and expert speakers. Startups were carefully curated from each destination of the tour that drifted through 8 cities of the Delta, Canal and Upper Egypt regions.

Only 10 Startups competed in the Techne Drifts Final Pitch in Aswan. Winning a total of 50, 000 EGP in cash, the third place winner was 'Sanna3ly' from Tanta, second place winner was 'Enkaaz' from Mansoura and the first place winner was 'Solar Aeros' from Luxor.  

Following the success of last year, once again, Techne Drifts - the leading Egyptian entrepreneurial roadshow designed to support and help starting new businesses - took the initiative to empower more than 200 startups, throughout 8 cities in Delta, Canal and Upper Egypt regions with more than 50 speakers and an elite of Egyptian entrepreneurs.

Believing in the significance of the role entrepreneurship can play to contribute in the business and economic development Egypt is eager to achieve, Techne Drifts had made it its prime goal to help startups get access to capital and the mentoring required guaranteeing their sustainability. Hence, the roadshow was an immaculate gathering for speakers, mentors, startups and investors, where innovative ideas were explored and doors to investment opportunities were opened.  

Kickstarting from Tanta; one-day events were held at different venues in the cities of Mansoura, Port Said, Suez, Assiut and Sohag. The agenda included talks, workshops, and panel discussions as well as a closing pitch event for startups in each city, where selected finalists joined the Techne Drifts Nile Cruise on a one-of-a-kind five-day journey from Luxor to Aswan. Only first place winners got the chance to compete at the final pitch in Aswan.

The Cruise program consisted of a 'Startups & Businesses Track', which was designed as a mix of workshops, one-on-one trainings, panel discussions and talks; and offered various sessions and topics on Customer Development Strategy, Customer Acquisition and Product-Market Fit. The program also included a Boot Camp where startups engaged in dynamic workshops that helped them develop both their business models and significantly enhance their pitch decks.

An “Investment track” also took place during Techne Drifts 2018, which aimed to raise awareness about Angel Investing, onboard more angel investors and shed the light on the significance of investing in early stage startups. Held in the cities of Mansoura, Port Said, Assiut and Aswan, high net worth individuals, members of various business associations, investment associations, and government officials participated in the event. The Assiut event also witnessed the launch of "Nile Angels", the Assiut based Angel Network consisting of the finest group of founding members, with an impressive experience in business and a passion for the wellbeing of entrepreneurial ecosystem.
