Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes brought its Tunisia round to a successful close during Seedstars Tunis. The event took place this Monday in Mediterranean School of Business, and 7 selected startups were invited to present their ideas in front of the local jury panel.

The local winner, Favizone, a Plug & play personalization solution that enables retailers to deliver recommendations across the channels: e-shop, emails and messaging apps, was selected the best startup in Tunisia for its adjective solution. As a part of the prize, Favizone will be participating at Seedstars Summit, taking place in Switzerland in April 2018, a weeklong training program with the opportunity to meet the other 80 winners, as well as investors and mentors from around the world.

Traditionally, the final day of the Summit will be dedicated to pitching in front of audience of 1000 attendees, with the possibility of winning up to the USD 1 million equity investment. WanaGames with its innovative platform where brands can advertise directly in-game via product placement instead of intrusive banners, came second and Dabchy, the fashion marketplace of the Africa/MENA region, grabbed the last spot in the top 3.

The 7 startups pitched in front of a prestigious jury, including Hanen Khanfir (Diva Sicar)), Khalil Zahouani (Dot IT), Yassine Oussaifi (Africinvest), Alfonso von Wunschheim (FutureVents Early Stage) and Katarina Szulenyiova (Seedstars) Seedstars Tunis also featured speaker Rita Adam, of the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia, who presented Switzerland’s care of innovation and Switzerland - Tunisia relations.

The local Ambassador of Seedstars World, Amel Saidane and Najoua Kooli, organized the event with Seedstars World’s local regional partner - Enel Green Energy, and local partners - Africinvest, Diva Sicar, Dot IT, and Topnet. Further support was provided by venue partner MSB and media partners Wamda, ArabNet and THD, catering partner Cheesecake Slice and special and exclusive networking event partner Cocktail Club Tunis. The event attracted interest from over 40 startups, and over 87 event participants.

Continuing on its world tour of startup scenes in emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, Seedstars World’s next stop is Amman at BIG by Orange, to select the best startup in Jordan. Seedstars World is looking for smart startups that solve regional issues and/or develop profitable products for the global market.
