Lebanon’s game development scene has grown rapidly over the last year, with community initiatives like Arab Arcade, new startups like Merryberries and Groovy Antoid, and established startups like Falafel games closing a 2.6 million USD round of investment.

This has culminated in Beirut Game Fest, a one day conference on Game Development and Design. Organized by Arab Arcade and hosted by Speed@BDD this Saturday 14 January, the conference will include talks on the basics of all aspects of Game Development, including game design, art, programming, and the business of gaming.

Featured speakers include Vince Ghossoub, CEO of Falafel Games, who will be giving a talk on when to target Arab markets and how.

Louis Karim, Lebanese character animator for Unknown Worlds Entertainment, will be giving a talk on what it’s like to work with an international team. His work on the internationally acclaimed virtual reality game Subnautica is sure to interest the aspiring game developers and designers in the audience.

There will also be a number of Virtual Reality demonstrations, with Subnautica, as well as local studio Gamecook’s game H.O.V.R.
