Lebanese Startups Excel at Big Booster
Big Booster returned for its 3rd season of its non-profit acceleration program to help spur some of the most exciting tech innovations into global markets. They called on 100 international early stage startups to take the leap and dive into Lyon and Boston’s innovation scenes.
BigBooster is a non-profit acceleration program for French and international early-stage startups developing innovative solutions with POC or prototype and international ambitions in 3 areas: Bio & Health, Informative Tech, and Global Impact.
The acceleration program is aimed at international startups located in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Intensive 3-day seminars, one in Lyon, and one in Boston, the Big Booster Camps include top-notch mentors and experts allowing in-between ad hoc mentoring. The Booster camp in Lyon constitutes opportunities for startups to test and improve their proposition value, strategy, and pitch – using feedback from mentors and experts. While the Boston one creates a gateway for startups to access US innovative ecosystem, and its promising market.
Big Booster 3
Organized across the globe, from Lyon (FR) to Boston (MA, USA), passing through China, Middle East & Africa, BigBooster aims at empowering startups to cross borders, think global and go international, with the help of major mentors, coach, and startup experts of all backgrounds.
3 days Booster camp in Lyon hosted 100 startups around the globe. During these three days, startups were given ample opportunities to network, share knowledge, benefit from workshops with mentors and VCs and one to one sessions with experts. The focus of the camp was to test and validate value proposition, fine-tune business model and market strategy, all to be rounded up in a 5-minute pitch. The pitch contest was the culmination of the Big Booster camp, upon which only 44 startups were selected to participate in the next round, including Lebanese startups Slighter, Meacor and Carpolo.
The Lebanese startups were nominated and supported by Berytech, in the context of « the Next Society » EU funded project, that empowers innovators in the Mediterranean, and the partnership established with the BigBooster international acceleration program, to facilitate international growth and access to markets.
Slighter, a smart, connected, "learning" lighter that offers a tailored solution to reducing or quitting smoking based on its patented AI algorithm;
MeaCor, a novel catheter-based repair device that replicates the open-heart gold standard for the treatment of mitral valve regurgitation, and
Carpolo, a search engine for un-used car space that incentivizes members of the same community to list their empty car seats.
Slighter and MeaCor both pitched in Biotech & Health in which both were selected and MeaCor were titled as champions. CarPolo pitched as part of Global Impact and was selected as 1 of the 16 startups in that area.
Congratulations to the 3 startups and good luck in the upcoming rounds!
