MITEF Startup Competition: 74 Teams Chase the Win!

74 semi-finalists from 11 Arab countries are preparing to compete in the MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF)  Arab Startup Competition this April. This year’s edition bears a special significance, as it celebrates the competition’s 10th anniversary.

MITEF for the Pan Arab Region’s competition will be held in Bahrain’s International Circuit, in partnership with Community Jameel, Zain Group, and Tamkeen. The 3-day event will determine who’s to be declared winner – from the 25th till the 27th.

74 Teams, 11 Countries
After having closed the doors for applications on the 4th of January, MITEF’s competition announced its selected semifinalists on the 10th of February. The semi-finalist teams from 11 countries are distributed as follows: : Egypt (20), Lebanon (11), Saudi Arabia (9), United Arab Emirates (9), Jordan (7), Tunisia (5), Morocco (5), Bahrain (3), Sudan (2), Libya (2) and Algeria (1).

The Last Training Round
Further to having attended a pre-bootcamp which took place in Egypt, Jordan, and the UAE, the semifinalists will undergo another round of training prior to the awaited competition on April 25th – 27th. They will be presenting their work to a jury that will bring together the Arab’s world key investors and businessmen.

3 Winners for 3 Tracks
The winners will be declared on the 27th of April during an awards ceremony; three teams will be awarded for three different tracks – Idea, Startups, and Social Entrepreneurship. They will receive cash prizes – estimated to reach $160K in total. They will also benefit from top tier training, mentorship, coaching, media exposure, and networking opportunities.
