The site offers educational and informative medical content in the form of articles, videos, and infographics. It also gives users the ability to connect with healthcare experts from around the region; so far it has accumulated more than 200,000 answers by top medical experts. Lately, its efforts in empowering its Arabic speaking population have been crowned by winning the WSA-mobile Award as the best mobile Health medical content for 2014. Altibbi will be honored with the global UN-based World Summit Award mobile in February at the WSA mobile Global Congress in Abu Dhabi.
Additionally, the company managed to attract major talent such as Dr. Amer Zureikat, who has a long career between pharmaceutical marketing and online operations as Vice President at Bayt.com, to take the company to the next level of growth.
Altibbi has already launched 5 mobile apps on both IOs and Android with downloads totaling two million. "73% of our user base is already on mobile" says Dr. Zureikat "and this is placing an increasing pressure to be on mobile and targeting different audiences and offer them personalized, immediate, interactive and private medical interactions with trusted physicians from the Arab World".
Online Payment Gateway Telr Awarded Prestigious Startup of the Year
Telr, a Singapore and Dubai-based online payment gateway, was awarded the prestigious Startup of the Year award during the Arabian Business Startup Awards which were recently held in Dubai.
Telr launched earlier this year with the aim to revolutionize e-commerce across the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia regions by providing merchants with a multi-lingual and multi-currency online payment gateway combined with cash management solutions. This enables companies in its area of operation to be able to sell online and offer their customers the choice of paying in their own currency. It is already fully operational in the UAE and plans to be active across many markets in Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia in the coming months.
Following a recent merger with Innovate Payments, Telr signed a partnership agreement with Aramex, and has secured Series A funding from Hatcher and iMENA; leading investors based in Singapore and MENA, further enhancing the company’s position as a leading online payment gateway provider.
The company was co-founded and is led by CEO Elias Ghanem. Elias is a former Managing director of PayPal Middle East and North Africa and was the Managing Director of PayPal Southeast Asia and India prior to that, as well as serving as an executive at Visa Inc. for an extended period of time.
“We are delighted to win this award, as we see it at as recognition for our efforts to promote e-commerce and provide much needed support to SME’s in the region,” he commented.
