Speed@BDD Receives Applications for its Third Accelerator Round

Mohamad Salhab, Jun 15 2016

Amidst the growing entrepreneurial culture in Lebanon – Speed@BDD is moving forward with its third round of acceleration that is set to commence this September. Software, digital, and web/mobile industry players can start applying now, with the deadline set on the 20th of July 2016.

The Beirut-based, fully-dedicated, tech startup accelerator and investment fund provides USD 30,000 in cash investment that includes hosting, mentorship, and startup services as well as support in accessing markets and potential partners for technology and software startups from the MENA region.

Speed@BDD accepts startup teams consisting of at least 2 cofounders, at the idea or the minimum viable product stages, who need to be based in Lebanon for the 3-month acceleration program. In return, Speed@BDD gets a 10% equity stake in each startup it graduates.

The program is concluded with a Demo Day during which graduating startups pitch their businesses to a carefully selected crowd of investors and players in the regional entrepreneurship scene. The top 2 startups of each batch get sponsored for a potential Silicon Valley follow-on immersion.

Strict criteria dictate the startup selection process at Speed@BDD, namely the international appeal of their product or service, as well as the competence of their team. Among the first batch of startups, NAR and RationalPixels took part at the LebNet Ignite acceleration and mentorship program in Silicon Valley.
