Startup Championship: The Winner Takes It All

Nadine Kahaleh , Mar 08 2017

As the Digital Summit is just around the corner (16-17 May), the preparations for the Startup Championship are heating up.

With Kuwait, Riyadh, and Beirut winners being announced, three cities remain on the list – Cairo (March 29), Casablanca (April 12), and Dubai (April 23).

Application deadlines:
Cairo: Closed
Casablanca: March 31st
Dubai: April 9th

5 minutes that make it, or break it
Out of ten competing startups in each city, three will earn the winner’s title; they will be flying to Dubai to take on the stage and pitch to a panel of stellar professionals and leaders in the tech industry, why they should be elected winner – a 5-minute pitch will define whether or not they merit the final prize.

The Championship’s winner shiny award
Just like any competition, this one also offers a gleaming trophy that whets the competitors’ appetite; in fact, the winning startup will be given a $20,000 check, and an acceleration scholarship in Sillicon Valley, along with other in-kind prizes from partners.

A few words about the Startup Championship
The Startup Championship is an event that’s running for the first time this year during the ArabNet Digital Summit.

The competition’s aim is to give prominence and support to the most promising startup in the MENA region; furthermore, it creates a tech conversation on a wider scale – bringing together growing talents and established ones in the same space.

Dubai’s Summit, the winners’ perks
Other than having the chance to compete in the Championship, the winning startups will be given a free booth to exhibit, access the matchup, and will profit from media exposure.
