Let's Get Ready to Rumble! Startup Demo & Ideathon Finalists Announced

ArabNet , Mar 07 2013

As with every edition of our competitions, the number of applications we receive never ceases to delight us, with tens of entrepreneurs eagerly looking to take their idea or business to the next level. While we appreciate and value each individual submission, we have narrowed down the selection to 20 finalists and 10 runners up in accordance with the rules of the competitions.

The finalists will have the chance to pitch their ideas and projects in front of an audience of fellow entrepreneurs, executives, investors and representatives from renowned media outlets. Runners-up on the other hand will have the opportunity to pitch if finalists do not confirm their participation.

To make sure that the selection process was fair, we relied on an independent panel of judges which consisted of Aiman Atiqi, Partner at STC Ventures (Iris Capital MENA), Salam Saadeh, Managing Partner at Y+ Venture Partners, Sami Baydoun, Managing Partner at Berytech, Khaled Ismail, Chairman at KIangel, Ziad Matar, Head of the Middle East & Central Asia at Qualcomm, Amir Farha, CIO of BECO capital, Samer Geissah, Vice President - Innovation at Du, and Ahmed Laiali, Acting - Strategy and Business Development Section Manager at ICTQatar.

The top 3 Ideathon competitors will be awarded valuable cash prizes, while the winning startups will be given exhibition spaces where they can meet and network with the event's attendees and media on the 21st and 22nd of this month.

Additionally, Solidere will provide the 1st place winner of the Startup Demo competition with office space for a whole year worth $10,000.
