Syrian Startups Compete at Jusoor’s Annual Competition
Jusoor has opened up registration for its fourth annual Entrepreneurship Competition until February 10th for all Syrian entrepreneurs who want to develop their ideas, acquire skills in entrepreneurship, prepare for accelerators and seed investors, and win financial prizes.
After a ten day training bootcamp that will be held in Beirut, the Jusoor Entrepreneurship competition will conclude with a Demo Day and Entrepreneurship Gathering on March 3rd at the Beirut Digital District, Jusoor’s strategic partner and hub for digital and creative industries in Lebanon. The final event is open to the public to attend, and the 3 winners will be chosen by a panel of judges. The financial prizes include $10K for 1st place, $7K for 2nd place and $5K for the 3rd place winners.
Over the past four years, the competition has supported over 65 startups and trained over 130 Syrian entrepreneurs. The competition also focuses on driving female-led startups to participate in addition to young and ambitious Syrians that have become recently displaced and are settling into their host countries around the world.
The competition is open to projects in any field with a focus on social and economic development. In order for teams to be eligible, at least one of the members must be from Syria, and the project must be in the seed stage, meaning that the team should be able to demonstrate traction, prove the potential of their project, and show potential growth that is measurable and scalable.
This year, Jusoor’s partners include Capital Guidance, Spark, BDD, ArabNet, WAMDA, MIT Arab Enterprise Forum, Techstars, Berytech, Techfugees, Startup Syria and our media partner Haykal Media
